Top 5 Dates

After going out on a date last night, it got me thinking a little about some of the best dates I’ve ever been on and/or dates that I think would be really fun.  Here are my top 5 picks:

1. Stating with my date from last night; dinner and bowling. Dinner allowed for some quality get to know each other time then bowling allowed us to interact and be a little competitive. It was fun getting to see his goofy side. Here is a picture from the bowling evening…

2. Going to a sporting event. This can be a little expensive but if you pay attention there are almost always ways of getting cheap tickets. I’ve been lucky enough to score some great tickets to Hurricans games lately.

3. Cooking dinner together followed by a movie. Cheap date… Always nice when dating on a budget. And who knows, you may learn he can cook 😉
4. Going to a local park. Again, it is cheap. You can pack a picnic and a frisbee or just go for a walk.
5. Dinner and game night with another couple. I’ve never actually done this but I think it could be a lot of fun with the right couple.
What are some of your favorite dates?

Things I’m loving *Thursday

Well since I missed Tuesday for a couple weeks now I thought I’d make up for it by posting it on a Thursday…

Harris Teeter brand vitamin water. Zero calories and a little kick of flavor. I haven’t tried them all yet but I think the lemonade one is my favorite so far.

Instagram. This has by far become my go to social media. I enjoy all the filters. Makes me feel like I’m actually taking good pictures 😉
I have never been a huge hockey fan but I have been fortunate to recieve free tickets on several occasions this season and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. The games are fast paced and the atmosphere is great. Win or lose, I always have a good time. GO CANES!!

This is an out door group fitness class with locations all over Raleigh (and elsewhere). The one I went to was awesome. The instructor catered to all levels and made the workout a ton of fun. If you are looking for something new, you should give it a try.

Wine and Design. It is just as it sounds. Bring your own wine and they teach you to paint a particular picture. I had a great time and I even got a cool piece of art out of it.

Hopefully you can enjoy a few of these things yourself. Have a great Thursday!

Things I’m Loving Tuesday….Week 2!

Back again with a new list of things that I am loving….

This has been my go to wine since this summer…super sweet and pretty cheap at about $8 a bottle!!
Lululemon headband. My mom just bought me two of them recently and they are great!! They stay put well and don’t pull your hair. I have them in gray and white. I defiantly want to get a couple fun colors.
Delicious! And even better than the fact that they taste great, they are an easy on the go snack since they peel really easily.
Adidas Team Speed Crew Socks. I think they sometimes look a little ridiculous on but they are probably my all time favorite pair of socks (and yes I have them in pink).
That’s it for this week’s “Things I’m Loving Tuesday” 🙂

Biggest Loser

As a few of you may know, my goal in life is to be Jillian Michaels…well a nice, less dramatic Jillian to be truthful. She has become a face that people have grown to respect and recognize in the fitness and diet world. What I like most about her is all that she has done to combat our growing obesity epidemic. This is something I strive to do in my life.

A place that many recognize her is from her time working with the Biggest Loser. The Biggest Loser for those of you who don’t know is a reality TV show about a group of people who are all significantly overweight who come to a ranch to learn how to live a healthy lifestyle. The winner of the show is the person who loses the greatest percentage of weight at the end.

Thanks to the Health and Wellness aspects of the Biggest Loser it has quickly become my favorite show to watch every week. I love how they challenge the participants to push their limits all in the confines of a doctors and professional trainers. Although it is not realistic for a person to devote their life 100% to losing weight like they do on the show, I think it is a great show for people to learn about healthy lifestyle changes as well as to be inspired. I also really enjoy the contestant stories, although I do think they are sugar coated a little I like that it makes it relatable for those who are watching at home. Also as a personal trainer, you do hear some of the same stories and same problems that these contestants are facing from clients. A big example of this are when the participants get in a rut with weight loss. This is something I hear all the time at my job so it is reassuring to me as a “new” trainer that it even happens to the “professional” trainers. I also like how the trainers then switch up their strategies to help the contestants. It allows me to learn and grow as a trainer and progress my clients in new ways.

If you haven’t checked out the show you should do so. I watch it every week on hulu.com .

Things I’m Loving Tuesday

Every so often I will post “Things I’m Loving Tuesday.” In this post I will include anything that at the moment I am loving. To get us started….

Moe’s is probably my favorite quick restaurants of all times. I am defiantly a frequent goer of the one near campus. My current favorite menu item is the earmuffs. This is a burrito bowl with a meat, any free topping, and guacamole. Yummy!!
Avocado is up next! This has quickly become one of my favorite snacks. It has even become one of my favorite desserts. A co-worker of mine recently suggested putting a tiny bit (less than a teaspoon) of sugar on it and she was right, it makes for a delicious dessert.
Recently I have had the issue of my hair falling out…I had accounted it to stress and not eating quite right but turns out it could have been my shampoo/conditioner. Since switching to Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship I have not noticed nearly as much hair falling out. The great smell doesn’t suck either 🙂
Ann Taylor Loft Curvy Flare Jeans. Best jeans ever! I now have 2 pairs of them and I’d wear them everyday if I could. They are perfect if you have a small waist and larger butt and thighs. I have never had a pair of jeans fit better.
As surprising as it may be since I am into fitness and nutrition, I do not like water. However, add a little flavor and some bubbles and I can drink it all day! Simply Clear Black Cherry sparkling water has been a recent favorite and as an added bonus, they now have one with added calcium.
Thats it for today! I will hopefully be back with more things I am loving in a week…
